Impact

In 2020, ImpactLab assessed the Community Employment Programme across six participating districts and found a remarkable social return: $5.60 for every dollar invested. This impact was seen not only in higher earnings but also in significantly better health outcomes for participants. This high return also includes added benefits like stronger community ties, improved communication skills, resilience, and a greater sense of purpose among participants.

Through collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, MTFJ also drives positive change using social procurement. This approach builds the capacity of local suppliers with training and mentorship, creates employment opportunities for marginalised groups, engages community groups in procurement, and provides MSD support for upskilling. MTFJ closely monitors these goals, celebrating suppliers who meet or exceed expectations, ensuring real and measurable community benefits.
