Hawke's Bay
The Hawke's Bay Region is located on the lower east coast of the North Island and has a population of around 150,000. The region is recognised on the world stage for its award-winning wines, which attracts thousands of tourists every year. Hawke's Bay has a warm, sunny, Mediterranean style climate, with summers usually hotter then the country's average. The winters are mild although occasional snow does occur.
The Hawke's Bay economy is based on the Farming, Horticulture and Wine industries. The Tourism sector is also a strong contributor.
The region consists of four Territorial Authorities; Wairoa District, Napier City, Hastings District and the Central Hawke's Bay District.
