Auckland

The Auckland Region is located in the Northern part of New Zealand and has a population of around 1.5 million people, making it New Zealand's biggest region. Auckland has a subtropical climate, with warm, humid summers and mild, damp winters, and is the only city in the world built on a basaltic volcanic field that is still active. Despite this fact, in 2014 it was ranked third in the Mercer Quality of Living Survey, and ranked  in the top 10 in the Economist's World's most liveable cities in 2011.

Auckland has the largest commercial centre in the country which strongly consists of the Construction, Telecommunications, Retail and Hospitality industry's. 

The region consists of one Unitary Council; Auckland Council, following the 2010 amalgamation of the eight councils that operated at the time.
